    North fork American river Canyon

Here are a couple shots from about two miles from home. These are hand held as I was hunting for a good spot to capture the morning after the rain fog. This is from just off a resturant parking lot. there are a couple more spots I am giong to check out. later. there may be some possabilitys for cloudy sunrise shots also.

last night wasn't very cold so there wasen't much fog. there are times that only the tops of the hills are sticking out with the mountains in the background

    My thoughts are:

A problem with the first one is that there is too much foreground/middleground. We've got this large 'blob' of trees that are not really interesting in their own right, taking up more than half the image, before we get to the fog.

The second one is a little over-processed for my tastes (but not everyone will agree with that view).

For me, the third one starts to get closer to the real-deal. The fog is the main focus of attention; i.e. the composition is much stronger. The lighting is good. The whole thing has got a nice, balanced feel to it

As usual Donald, you are spot on. Thanks. I don't know why I didn't notice the over possessing on the second one. that looks pretty bad
