I agree with just about everything that the three presenters state on this video. It could be a good video to watch if a person were wanting to set up equipment for bird and other wildlife photography.

One thing that I might mention is a solution to not being able to find your subject against a plain background like sky or water when shooting with a prime telephoto lens.

A sportsfinder is difficult to find but once found and used, it makes the initial acquisition of small moving targets far easier, Simply pop your eye up from the viewfinder to the sportsfinder which rides on the hotshoe of the camera and you will have the subject in the viewfinder. My sportsfinder originally came from a U.S. Navy 35mm Topcon camera set that was issued to aircrews for ship identification photography. The sportsfinder allowed the aircrewman to frame the shots while the visor of the flight helmet was down.

It is so easy to use that I am surprised that some enterprising Chinese firm has not produced a copy for consumption. Since it fits in the hotshoe, it can be used on any camera which includes the hotshoe.

Richard - A nice fold down version of that finder wouldn't be too hard to make in my shop. What is the hole diameter on the peek sight on the one you have? I will have at it when I get a chance.

I'll have to put the sportsfinder on my list of searches.

A fair number of BIF photographers have a history of firearms and are acquainted with things like Richard suggested, as well as something that I've suggested http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/c....aspx?a=691313
The key is using something that will enable you to get that bird in a zone that your auto focus can find and then practice on something like seagulls.

Seagulls do remind me of something:

And it won't break your bank account either
