High-wire Spider
Enjoying my first cup of tea on the balcony this morning I spotted something hanging from the overhead power cables on the other side of the road. Eight hours later and he's still there quite active, strange place to set up a web?
There have been birds perched each side of him but they take no interst.
Taken handheld at 200mm, unfortunately the longest FL I have.

Re: High-wire Spider
Really interesting this character was not eaten - perhaps recognizably unpalatable? Is this an intentional location for her (him? they seem usually to get eaten by hers) or some bizarre accident? Also, pretty dang big, I think... 8" or more legtip to legtip. I wonder if you wondered what was in your tea.

Re: High-wire Spider
It is a strange place to be hanging out and it's also roughly the middle of the wire span. I have to assume the web is a good insulator but wonder what's going to happen when it rains?

Re: High-wire Spider
Good eyes, looks like a beautiful specimen too. Maybe you can find his brothers in the nearby greenery?

John, Bobo,
Thanks for commenting.
He's moved along about 2 metres this morning and I managed to get him with the sun behind to illuminate the web. The palm at the rear is a good 5 metres away.
