    Wobbly lens

I would appreciate some help. I have a Sigma 50-500 lens which I love. It is mounted on a Canon 400D, my second after the first one got drowned in an African river. The camera end of the lens (where the mount is) has started to wobble against the rest of the lens. As things stand the lens is functional and light tight but wobbles alarmingly when carried.

    1) Is this going to get worse
    2) Should it be fixed?

    Many Thanks

    Hi dochuw,

    1. Almost certainly
    2. Sooner will be better than later

At this stage it may just be a case of tightening a loose screw or two inside (I'm not suggesting you try), if left, the loose screws may come out, drop in the works and jam the lens

Could you do me a favour please?
Could you click Settings (right at the top),
    then Edit Profile (on left)
and put your first name in the Real Name field
and where you are (roughly) in the Location field?
this helps everyone give you more personal and relevant answers - thanks.

    Re: Wobbly lens

I have had lenses where the attachment plate has worked lose and the external screws simply needed a slight twist with a very small screwdriver.

Otherwise, is it wear? Which would mean a replacement part from a proper camera repairer.

And the bigger the lens the more wobble from the same amount of wear that would be barely noticeable with a short lens.
