Nice capture ... a shot to be proud of ... though why did you spoil things with that wide white border and putting your name in the photo ... it would work for whatever it does just as well in the white as the title is.
Yep it looks much better - mind you it looked pretty good anyway.
James,
Great use of the DoF here and the lighting on the antlers is the icing on the cake, well done.
Plain white border, smaller name
Grahame
Hi James.
It's a great capture. The vignette is centered in the photo, so the tree trunk in the center is brighter than the edges, as are the deer's antler and left ear. I like the position of the deer in the image and would not change that. If you have Nik's ColorEfex software, or something equivalent, try using the darken/lighten effect and place the center of the lighter area on the deer. That will help the viewer see the deer and the details in his side and legs.
Thank you l, Paul & Grahame I use the white border for certain posts online cause a lot of the time the posted against a white background like on facebook, and the white border makes the name or writing look like its floating above the pic. the name I usually use about 29 to 39 % transparency on so its not so noticeable.
Ty Kent I don't have nik when I put the vignette on it I was thinking it would be neat if I could put another smaller one centered on his rear haunch to do basically what you said, I just don't know if I can do that with lr4.
I am glad yall liked the shot.
You can do some that off center illumination or darkening that "radial filter" in lightroom 5. It is a lovely shot, but I can't wrap my head around the blurry short grass in the foreground and absence of a middle ground between camera and buck - perhaps you shot this prone, from a mown lawn?
Nice shot.
Thank you John & Bobo.
Mark thank you as well. I will try to help you wrap your head around this shot, I was in the field about 20 yards from edge of woodline. The grass that looks short to you is actually 20 inches tall. the grass in the field was cut or burned cause it was 10 to 20 inches shorter than patches along the wood. This was cropped somewhat I will look to see if the out of camera shows it better. thanks again.
