    Waterfall in B & W

I took this photo a couple weeks ago at Childs Park in eastern Pennsylvania. It looked better in B&W because what color was there did not really contribute to the image.

Suggestions and comments are always welcome.

    Hi Ken

It is a nice image. Just some thoughts

The photographer on the foreground gives perspective to the waterfall. The slow shutter renders a nice smooth water flow. The waterfall is not perpendicular. And I find the above wooden structure does not add to the title but instead it draws my eyes away.

I like the image a lot better when the walkway is excluded. I don't know what to make of the waterfall that is crooked even though the photographer and tripod seem to be straight. Try making the falling water straight and determine how that affects the rest of the photo.

Steven and Mike. Regarding the straightening, I think the photo is straight, but I know it does not look that way with the water falling at an angle. I looked at how straight the image is when I was processing it. I tried to straighten the water and the rest of the image was too rotated and the bridge was sloped downward way too much. Look at both waterfalls and they slope in opposite directions. I concluded the large waterfall looks crooked because of the rock structure at the top of the waterfall, and the angle of the camera. I could be wrong.

At first, I liked the bridge in the shot because it added something. But as time has passed, and I look at the cropped version, I believe the suggestion to remove it is a good one.

    Thanks for the comments.

Ken, there's no need to straighten the waterfall - in general the direction of flow is essentially determined by the stream-bed and surrounding geology so any part of the flow will only appear perpendicular if you were looking straight on at it.

I agree with you re presenting it in mono but I would have preferred to either see either more / less of bridge because as it stands it's really not contributing.

Ken I like the bridge and I think there is an optical illusion going on with the lines in the rock and the waterfall. I like it very much.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Here is cropped version. I believe the waterfall appearing not straight is because water at the top if flowing left to right.

Ken, agree with you that somehow the waterfall is "straight"
