Columbus Circle
About a week ago, I went into New York City to do some night photography just for the fun of it. This scene is Columbus Circle, with a statue of Christopher in the middle ground and a shopping mall in the background. I was delighted to see how much color there was at that location.
Suggestions and comments are always welcome.

Re: Columbus Circle
Hi Ken
The column of the statue and the two parallel floors on the background keeps distracting me.

Re: Columbus Circle
Going on from Steven's comment. I wonder if that particular border design is causing some distraction with all those vertical lines.
The actual scene looks good to me. People in the foreground placed just right and the statue column leading upwards from them.
Plenty of light and colour. Although there is a lot going on in this scene I don't find the various elements conflicting with each other.
The only slight item that I wonder about is the bright background light just to the left of Columbus. Ideally, I would clone that out.

Re: Columbus Circle
I like it. It's nice and lively with a lot of interesting things to look at.
Obviously auto WB has totally failed and you need in PP to do graduated localised WB corrections on about 15 different parts of the image. Of course if it were mine I would leave it as is.

Re: Columbus Circle
Ken it works quite well for me - bright lights, big city - that sort of thing. Exposure is pretty good and I think you've done well with the composition.

Re: Columbus Circle
Ken, I'm still learning to dissect an image into the parts that appeal and those that don't. I can't give you the technical reasons for liking the image as the above posters have done, but I just do. I hope that helps.

Re: Columbus Circle
I like that Ken, white balance and all. Agree with Geoff on the white light. Cloning it might be a problem but toning it yellow might be enough. My only real thought is that the figure walking out of the comp bottom right needs to be either all in or cropped out. Nice shot though.

Re: Columbus Circle
Very neat image... I love the mix of light colors... I would think about either cloning or cropping out the partial image of the woman lower image right...
