    Trying something different......

These leaves were shot in bright mid day sunshine against a very clear blue sky on the side of a bluff by the Chesapeake Bay. Footing was precarious I was using a zoom telephoto, a lens I don't often use. I can see technical issues; particularly with depth of field. I've not yet developed an intuitive sense of the depth of field using the long lens. (55-210mm on a 1.5 crop factor Sony NEX 6)
The bright blue sky background wasn't working at all with the red of the leaves so I pushed myself way out of my comfort zone in the PP and these are the result. C&C as always solicited and appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

One of the best post-processing I have seen done on leaves.

DOF looks ok as does exposure etc.

I cannot understand what it is about these leaves that needed you to take a risk.

I don't have much to offer, as I consider myself a baby photographer and am still learning everything about the technical aspects of photography, but I will say I rather enjoy the first picture you posted. I particularly like the composition and also how bright the leaves look against the background as opposed to the second picture. DOF looks good to me, but as mentioned, I'm still learning so you may see something I don't.
