    Back to the "Old" times...

I spent the day photographing part of a collection for catalog purposes and thought I would venture off center for a couple of shots.

    C&C appreciated

Chauncy, no dates on the boxes but with a little research comparing box design and details you can get pretty close. According to the details and the design these boxes date between 1910-1924 when they discontinued the Gallery ammo line. The collection that these are part of has some boxes that date back to the 1890s.

Here are the photos of the box tops that the above were taken from.

OK, I'm just thinking here...why not take an odd number of cartridges out of the box and artfully strew them around the box to show some of the patina of the old copper/brass/lead.

Interesting images. I like the slightly teasing aspect of the images in that you have to look and think a bit to work out the subject.

Is it just my eyes or is the focus just a bit off on the second image? I seem to strain to focus on the words.
The depth needs to be a little deeper on the first as the details on the bullet seems a little fuzzy for my taste

Chauncy, as most of this collection is still in original sealed boxes, it would be a huge negative to open one up I may have to find an open one and try your suggestion though.

Here is another unopened box from the 1880s. I really enjoy the detail in the "woodcut" label.

Thanks Trevor, I will have to go back and re-shoot that one, and probably a couple more too
