Re: Good To Know C&C welcomed
That's an odd looking woman holding the cup. She has a snout.

I think you need to crop tighter for this scene to work well.
The people on the right add nothing; except distraction.
How about ending up with a 4 x 5 ratio crop which would include all the important elements.
And at full screen size, that woman's 'elephant trunk face' does look much more natural so I wouldn't worry about it.
In colour this wouldn't be any problem.

Re: Good To Know C&C welcomed
Jack - when I look at one of my images, the first question I ask myself is "what is the subject" and if I can't figure that out at first glance, I will re-work the image (this is sometimes not possible) so that it this becomes clear. I will crop, add vignettes and make other corrections so that there is no question in the viewer's mind as to the subject.
In this image, I really can't figure out what the subject is.

Re: Good To Know C&C welcomed
John and Geoff, I believe the woman maybe a Snuffleupagus.
Damnedest thing, I never even noticed her 'trunk' until John mentioned it. Duh!
Manfred (and Geoff(, probably a tighter crop, I was going for the sign in the middle of the image: New York Loves You
I think this photo gets an award for Failure To Be Aware Of Background (there's at least one other oddity in there as well)

Re: Good To Know C&C welcomed
I suspect that a crop from the right side will place the signs around the one thirds area which will work fine; possibly better than being central.
And that leftwards facing arrow will direct viewers towards the image centre.

An excellent idea, thanks Geoff. Now to see if I can de-trunk the snuffleupagus.

Does this edit/crop work any better?

I would say it works a lot better; you've cropped things down to the point where the message on the sign and the people in the shot are really part of the same construct.

Re: Good To Know C&C welcomed
Thanks Manfred. Helps that the woman no longer has a trunk.
