The Sidama are the fifth largest ethnic group in Ethiopia. The are an agrarian people who farm; their primary cash crops are coffee and chat (a mildly narcotic leaf that people chew). Low coffee prices means that they are ripping out the coffee bushes and replacing them with the far more profitable chat crop.
