    Lightroom 5 Tutorial

Can anyone suggest a good tutorial for Lightroom 5? I would like to go beyond the basics, and hopefully better understand the changes and how they might affect other changes to be made...

I know there are a number of videos and sites out there with information, which would you recommend as the most reliable? (Obviously beyond the information that is available here on the CiC pages)

    Thanks in advance,

I think that's a really good question. I think there are some OK tutorials out there (Kost's are remarkably clear and well done) but they don't go very deep. In particular there's a lot of Gee Whiz - look what you can do, but not a lot of "why" and "look out for".

    - I do think that there are interesting interactions between some of the actions available, that there may be better ways to get a similar result, and that there are some not so obvious ways to get into trouble. Also, a little more understanding of the actual processes underlying manipulations of contrast and clarity and color parameters might help the learner know how to use these more effectively. Maybe you just have to go to school for such information.

I think Julieanne Kost's are good, and the Lightroom forums, as already mentioned.

If you want to go into a bit more depth, and spend a few $'s, I find George Jardine's videos very good, at

    www.mulita.com

There a couple of "episodes" that you can try for free.

Hi MarkS Another thought. If you want to go in depth and beyond what most tutorials will cover, consider Jeff Schewe's book "The Digital Negative". Only worthwhile if you are planning to shoot in RAW (i. e. The digital negative of the title), but it does explain in detail and with examples, exactly what is going on when you move those sliders.
