6 of the Hottest New Models - is it just me , or ...

It depends on what, as in the case of one of the selections-the casting director, is looking for. Is the industry looking for faces, coat hanger frames, or are they just marketing a look and hoping the fashion industry buys into it. There were a few models from the selection that had eye catching faces, but do facial features sell clothes, I don't know.

Quite a bit of difference between the two if you subscribe to these descriptions.

Nevertheless, with reference to the OP, definitely like the look of ANDREEA DIACONU (from what I can see in the link). The rest - nah - as interesting faces. As clothes racks, I don't know, never looked at people that way.

Yep - you summed it up perfectly for me. Kinda "disassociated with reality" for me - not even attractive fantasy. Alienated is a good word for it IMO.

I frankly like the classic beauty look. I don't know just how to describe it but some varied examples are Sophia Loren, Grace Kelly and Gweneth Paltrow. I realize that the model industry is seeking "new looks" but, I never tire of the old classic beauty. Just Like I never get tired of sunny days at 68 degrees F. (20 degrees C.)

Perhaps if the model is too pretty, people don't look at the clothes?

You're probably right, but the bit I don't get is that the makeup and pose the models to look unflattering, and then they put them in ridiculous clothes -- the purpose of their creation I'm really not sure of (I don't anybody would want to be seen in some of those creations).

To my caucasian eyes the coloured ladies look AOK but the caucasian ones drack.

I thought you were talking about cameras and going to link to dpreview where they had the top five recently ... and I didn't like any becuase they were all DSLRs etc :)
