How do I prevent LR5 from being default downloader of images
I now have both Photoshop CC and CC LR5 by way of the cloud. Problem is LR5 wants to download my images from my SD card, I do not like its file management system. I am an old Bridge type of guy, so how do I prevent LR5 from doing that and instead getting Bridge to be the default downloader.

If you are using Windows 7 go to start menu and select Default Programs and in the sub menu select Change AutoPlay settings. You should be able to change it from LR5 to Bridge for the device or camera you are reading from.

And in Lightroom- Edit Preferences- On the "General" tab, look at "Import Options" and take out the tick from the box beside- "Show Import dialog when a memory card is detected." Lightroom will never bother you with import again.
(Sadly.! because LR has a great library catalog system- IMO.)

Re: How do I prevent LR5 from being default downloader of images
Paul and Robert thanks very much for you suggestions, and best of all they work, no more Light Room wanting to take control and down load my images when I insert an SD card or any device.
Robert a lot of people love the library system of LR, it reminds me to much of Photoshop Elements, I want to file images where I want them not all in one place. An example I want all my 2009 images on an external drive as I do not need to get to them, if for some reason I want to work on one of them the system can not find it, yet I know where it is. I prefer Bridge much more, however to each there own.

As you say, Allan, each to his own.
However, just so things aren't misinterpreted by any potential Lightroom users, the Lightroom database is logical not physical. You can import files from any connected device into Lightroom, the files don't move - they simply get entries in the catalogue.

Dave you are right, it is I just do not like their logic. And as we all know and I hope agree there have been countless threads on which one is better or worse so I hope this thread does not get into who is correct. LR looks at it one way and CS and CC look at it another way and they are both produces of Adobe.

At the risk of starting another debate, I also far prefer Bridge to the Lightroom system of filing and I definitely dislike the Photoshop Elements Filing and access systems.

To me Richard: you, Colin and I are correct, however to other "we" are wrong. That does not matter we use what is correct for us. I do not mind people stating which they prefer however please leave out why your way is the right way and the other is the wrong way. That horse has been beaten to death on many different threads and sites, I think that those who continue to beat that poor dead horse should be arrested, sentenced to the death penalty that is to be carried out by a herd of Clydesdales with shod hoofs.

Since Allan has his answer, I guess it is all right to continue this thread.
A lot of which library or catalogue system you prefer is down to personal preferences, but I didn't understand the Lightroom system till I took George Jardine's tutorials I made lots of bad decisions to begin with.
