    Mini Competition #70

    Here's how it works ...

    - You good folks post images in the thread (please change your post title to a name for your picture)

    - When we get 10 images we will attach a voting poll

    - After 3 days the poll closes and the winner is declared!

    - If you would especially like some critique after the competition poll closes, please make it known in the post

    Too easy eh?

Limit of 1 image per post, and 2 image posts per person.

If there are already 10 in the current comp, please start a new thread in this forums.

    Re: Looking back

I took this on a recent trip to Morroco. Difficult shooting conditions, but I am fairly happy with the result.

    Captive Horned Puffin

    Mini Competition #70

Captive Horned Puffin (Fratercula cirrhata) at the Alaska SeaLife Center, Seward, Alaska.

Minimal PP - "levels" and saturation in ACR, cloned out distracting bits of bird you-know-what on rocks in background and USM in CS4. C&C welcome.

    Thanks!

    Glory from Heaven

Here is my entry: Glory from Heaven

This is a rather difficult and also a bit risk shot. I probably won't do it again. I arrived the coast in the late afternoon with a hope to have nice sunset lighting. But the sky was unsettled instead. I got very close to the edge, waiting for waves. Then a huge wave crashed against the cliff causing a 15 meter high surge, which I witnessed and captured with a slow shutter speed.

I think we have a competition for the understatement of the year.

Okay, we can close the thread now. This quote wins.

Okay! For me, this is the best image you have posted, Sahil. I like it very, very much. And it has a powerful documentary feel to it, in that it is giving us information about the life of a young person in India.

I think you have a nice balance in the composition, between the bundle of hay/straw on the cart and the bundle against the wall at the back of the image.

I would make two suggestions for you to consider:
    1. Cloning out the dark upright stem at the bottom left
    2. Putting in some Local Contrast Enhancement, masking it and painting it back onto the straw only. That, I think, would give it a bit more 'pop'

Thanks, Donald. Cloning can be done, but I am not very good with LCE.
