Stupendously captured, Joe. Love them all, and green with envy as usual. It's 15degF here in the bright sun and if I hang around the bird feeder awhile I might get me a fluffed up and freezing junco.
But help me with the Ducks: is there some PP that pops them out like that - the degree to which they are popped almost make them look pasted over an independently acquired soft background. I suppose, using focus and light as well as you do, it just can't be helped.
Hi Mark, after looking at the image again it looked over sharpened. I went back a few steps and reposted the image. If it still appears that way most likely it is because the ducks were about fifty feet away and the background a couple hundred feet away... separation.

Thanks, Joe. Makes sense - but you rarely see separation that is so pronounced. You really had those ducks, dead-on.
The variety of bird life you have available makes me so envious as does the quality of the captures that you achieve. Great stuff.
Hi Joe
All good stuff as usual. That Glossy Ibis looks magnificent.
Dave
They are all your high caliber as usual, but #2, to me, is special. I love the expression on the ibis's face as he concentrates on his landing. You can see the calculation.
Marie
Joe, What Marie said about #2 plus the feather detail is really wonderful! The Glossy Ibis colors are special. And I'm jealous of the flying ducks. I've yet to get that sharpness on a flying duck - usually not enough SS. Wonderful stuff!
I like that Glossy Ibis, his coloring is iridescent. Those ducks... I have been trying to capture a similar image with Canadian geese. I want to blur the background and have the subject stand out like you have done.
Sheer Magic; nothing less
Brilliantly done Joe...............
