As my use often involves a lot of walking I like Andrew's 1st link but the chair on poles etc would be a good option as well.

Nobody has mentioned my favorite Domke. http://www.tiffen.com/displayproduct...temnum=742-1BK

I've used these for years and love them. When I was still shooting film, I used different color straps to distinguish my b/w body from my color body.

Absolutely, given some areas I've worked in I'm not happy with quick release anything, that's an invitation for someone to release and run. If someone gets a hand on a body, releases one end of the strap and runs it's very difficult to hold on to the other end of the strap, assuming you manage to get a hand on it at all. This is particularly easy for someone to do if you are shooting with two bodies and have one up to your eye.

On the other hand I don't use steel cable reinforced straps because this type of theft tends to be opportunistic. However if they are out on a mission and the plan is to cut through straps and run they are already tooled up with something that can be used as effectively on you as it can on a strap, and at that point they can have the camera, that's what insurance is for.

    Cheers,

Hi, I have tried many straps. A robust strap is good but takes up a lot of space in the bag. The UP Strap is an extremely robust strap with a good shoulder pad and can be partnered with quick releases. I found it a bit bulky. My favorite strap is a Crumpler (not sure of model) with quick release connectors. Very robust and very comfortable. The padding is wide and the material prevents the camera from sliding around while I'm carrying the camera on my hip during a walk.
