The last flower of the season

We had night frost for a few days, but this little flower braved the cold, and is still blooming.
I have no idea what kind of flower it is - the actual size is a little smaller than the diameter of a US quarter.
But I think I missed the mark. I took this handheld, with a screw-on closeup lens. 2X magnification.
I tried to actually focus on the little bug, but I'm not sure if it works.

Only had one chance - after I took this picture, my battery died ----and by the time I got back after replacing the battery, the little creature was gone.

    Hi Kris.

I think the flower is a variety of marigold.

I think it just did not work this time for you. I do not see anything in sharp focus except possibly the bug's tail.

Since the bug was your main concern, then consider cropping off most of the image leaving the bug and a part of the flower, possibly only 1/8th of the full image. If the flower was your main point of interest, then you probably should not have used the screw on lens because of the shallow depth of field (I think). My two cents worth...

I would never figured this for a Marigold. It doesn't look like the ones I'm seeing in nurseries, this flower is so much smaller. Different variety? It's growing wild, just popped in my yard a few weeks ago.

I tried for the little bug - it was almost translucent. Never saw one like it before. Cropping doesn't look too good, it's just way too soft.
Better luck next time. This one goes to file 13.

Thanks for the info. Must be a small variety of marigold. The ones I find in nurseries are almost triple the size of this one - and are usually not bi-colored.
And BTW - it's still not bloomed out. May try for a better shot later today.
