I love the idea of the first pic but to be honest it doesn't quite work for me. The right and left spindly trees stretching their arms up to a delicate network of leaves and small branches is lovely but the large black featureless centre trunk just seems to dominate and overpower the rest. I much prefer the second pic as you have really brought out the contrasting textures. I like the symmetry breaking caused by what almost seems to be a missing tooth on the right. I would have been interested to see a slightly wider angle so that the first pair of features were not cut at the edge, but apart from that I rather like it. I hope this helps.
