The Old Sled

We had our first snow storm in Boston yesterday. It started late in the afternoon so some snow had accumulated by evening. I went out in the backyard and took some photos. This old sled was being used as a Christmas decoration. The photo was taken around 9:00 pm and I used a tripod. The light was coming from a flood light on the garage in the upper right. I applied some photoshop filters to make it look rustic with plans to use it for a card. C and C welcome.

Sweet shot. Nice snowy texture which I like very much. And a very appealing composition. You begin to feel your age when objects you loved and used once, which you think the normal thing to use, are now regarded as antiques and used to hang stuff off of... Aside from a tendency to fracture wrists not sure what was wrong with them. Sharp edges or lead paint or something no doubt.

Just wondered if you considered masking the wreath and bow so that it is full color? Just a thought.

The wall is just a tad too bright, not over-exposed but it needs a bit more contrast to bring out the beauty of the sled as this is your main topic, the sled. Just my opinion...

Thanks for your comments. I will try bringing the color back into the bow and wreath. I think you are right and it will add to the photo.

Thanks for your comments. I think the wall is a little too bright especially in the upper right where the light is. I am going to use Ken's comment about increasing the color in the bow and wreath and your suggestion of adding more contrast to lower the brightness of the wall.

Yes it imparts the feeling of old and grey, in a touching manner; i love the melancholy/drama it creates

Thanks for your comments. I guess you must have had plenty of use for a sled in Wisconsin. I have been doing more tinkering with the filters and blend modes in Photoshop to create cards.
