I am not sure why this insect is hard to get in focus but she really is tough.

I've never seen anything like it Brian, but it looks like your persistence has paid off and you nailed this one! Any idea what it is?

Okay, We live about 4 miles up a dirt road from Valencia Negros Oriental in the Philippines. Our altitude is about 390 meters above sea level and we have about 2000 sq meters. Everything I post comes from our yard.

This one is a macro winner. I applaud your persistence in learning this technique. It finally paid off for you. You should send this one to a bug finder for ID. One that came up is: BugGuide.net. Try google.

Sadly bug guide is for North America. Google brings up a lot but it overwhelms the novice. I have sent out some querries to Philippine universities so maybe someone will get back to me.

I'll bet that if you go snooping around the plants in your neighbourhood you will find some interesting beasties.

Right: "she". Anything that fancy is likely female, unless it's insect mardi gras there in which case it might be a guy.
