Bow, Bow.....(no body here? )
Taking awhile to mentally process the image. I like the idea, the black area needs some spot healing.
Protection is another facet of these wonderful animals that is sometimes overlooked. Local law enforcement authorities have told me that a barking dog is one of the best burglar alarms possible. Most often, unless a thief has targeted your home for a specific reason, he will pass by a house with a barking dog and break into the home of your neighbor who doesn't have a dog...
When someone approaches my home they are greeted by a multitude of high pitched barks from our Maltese and then suddenly my 55-pound (~25 kilogram) Goldendoodle opens up with her booming deep bark. That should be a preventative against home intrusion.
George Orwell is quoted as saying, "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
Well, even peaceful dogs will do violence to protect those they love...
I once had a very large, 85 pound (~38.5 kilogram) German Shepherd (Alsatian), Golden Retriever, Wolf combination who was the ultimate in security.
She was a gentle animal but was formidable when she thought that my wife or one of our Maltese was threatened. She didn't have to act vicious to scare people off, most often her looks and demeanor would do that, but if her looks didn't discourage a would-be attacker, she would have had no problem removing a hand or an arm to back up her point. Luckily, this never came to pass...
Funny story is when we once left our wolf-mix and our friends Doberman Pincher in the shell of my pick-up truck while we made a quick stop at a store. My wife seriously said, "I'm worried that someone might steal the dogs." I laughed and said, "You must be kidding, who would or could steal those two dogs?"

That was a nice narration and the image is very pretty
Thank you for sharing
Nandakumar, I like the idea of this photo. I need new glasses so it could be me, but is the focus on the dog soft? Or perhaps it is just noise. Why was your ISO set so high? With such a dark exposure I think an ISO of 4000 would be hard to manage. Your shutter speed seems to be higher than needed for a subject not moving so a lower ISO was possible. I haven't taken many dark exposure shots such as these so I am no expert at all.
Nandakamur, I like the concept and the dog itself looks cool. But IMO the image would work better without the water in the BG. Isolating the dog in total darkness would really make the statement you intended.
On the topic in general, dogs are amazing creatures. As a youth I never gave it much thought. We always had hunting dogs who had a job to do which I just took for granted. But as I grew older I paid more attention. For those who do, observation and consideration of their behavior reveals a highly intelligent species with social interactions just as complex as our own. However it is clear that they don't have our level of intelligence due to the fact that they are willing to lay down their lives for us regardless of how we may treat them. Like any true friend, they love us whether or not we are worthy.
Nandakumar, I agree that the white spots should be cleaned up and I find the water detracts more than it adds. The dog looks soft to me as well, but I love the light and the pose.
Richard, the dog is beautiful. My Stella's defensive abilities have never been tested and she is so sweet and people-oriented, I have often doubted them. But people tell me the sight of her wolfish-looking self is enough to keep me safe. ;-)
