    Flirting With Mach

Here's a shot of an F18A with the throttles open.

The sun was at about our 11 o'clock and behind the aircraft which backlit the vapor patterns but caused most of the aircraft to be shaded, causing very high contrast. Try as I may, I couldn't do much for the underside.

I hope the visual impact of the image makes up for some of its technical shortcomings

Nah - if it's one of my beloved F/A-18's with the throttles wide open then it'll be traveling faster than light - so it's just that the sun hasn't caught up with the front end yet!

    Nice shot by the way

Dr. Science was asked once. If you are traveling faster than the speed of light and turn on your headlights will you see them in your rear view mirror? Must be the same for the F/A18. Beautiful picture.

Seems that you would be too busy to take pictures. How do you manage that?

Once you've flown a Hornet, you'll be a "mached" man for life!
