    More dog photo's

    Hi all,
Been playing with my new toy, a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8.
Really been impressed with it so far. I took a school leaver dinner photo shoot for a family last week and the clarity and sharpness of the image was great.
It has image stabilisation which is something new to me as Sony has it in camera. It is far superior on the lens and I'm enjoying the results.
Below are three shots I took yesterday of my dog Milly while I was working on a farm property in central Tasmania.
I wanted to convey the solitude of the dog in it's working environment. Unfortunatley I couldn't include any stock as the owner may have been a little upset if Milly tried to round up his cattle
All were shot at f/2.8 to separate Milly from the background.
    C&C welcome.
    ps, Have a good Christmas

I like the 2nd shot, Greg. That is a great pose and the background locates her in an environmental context that says something of the dog's character.

BTW, does having image stabilisation on both the lens and in the camera mean that you have two lots of stabilisation working, or does only one work at a time?

    Cheers Greg,
The second is my favorite as well. I left the telegraph pole in shot as I thought it typified Oz scenery as no doubt you're familiar with.
I have tried with both lens and camera stabilization on and I can't see any difference.
The lens manual says to turn off the camera stabilization so that's what I'm going with at the moment

Great shots - nice looking girl. I like the second best too, but like the separation from background and illuminated effect you achieved in #3 very much.

    Thanks James and Mark,
I have to say that investing in a better quality lens seems to help a lot

    Cheers John,
Isabel, I can go a lot closer if need be as my camera is full frame but my intention with the photos was to show Milly in cattle dog environment not just the dog.
    Cheers, Greg

Thanks David she is a great dog, never strays too far from me, very loyal.
Grahame, you know what it's like, you look at a shot you've just taken on the review and think, wow, I like that, this was one of them
    Cheers, Greg
