It looks like you are making progress Brian! I can't speak for the software you are using as I've never played with it. Given the subject and almost identical background I would guess that, at lest for this image, you'll want to learn how to get a bit of separation between the subject and background to make seeing the little fella a bit easier.

yup that be on my list of things to figure out. I solved it one way by capturing a white moth on a black pipe.

The most common tools in post processing to accomplish this is to make a difference between the subject and the background in contrast, color, sharpness/blur, vibrancy, or brightness. Sometimes more than one aspect can/should be changed to get the look you want. Originally Posted by JBW

A white moth against a black pipe is an excellent example but the difference doesn't always need to be that extreme to be both effective and pleasing to the eye.
Take a look here for an example of a similar issue I had and how it was solved.
