Hi Catalina I did not mean to post the image twice. I added the correct bracket after my comment and was surprised that it was accepted as an image link even though there was other text within the link so I corrected and reposted but you replied before I had changed it.

The most important step with old photographs is to either scan or do a photographic copy as well as possible. We will need to know more about your method of digitising the image before we can offer any meaningful comments or suggestions.

I scanned an old photography , I plan to post it in Facebook, but the skin is uneven and there is a hue that disturb the viewer in the skin. ˇCould be improved if it is White and black?

I use a scanner hp deskjet f380. Its an old one. But if the two photos are worth the job I could go a place where they use professional scanners, in order to preserve the photos that I posted yesterday. First of all I would want to know what do you think of the portrait which is catalina de blanco, complete photograph.

Thanks a lot for your time and interest

    What do you recommend?

Hi Catalina, your scanner may be satisfactory but you should probable try scanning at 600 or 1200dpi depending on the size of the original and what surface texture it has. Scanning a print at over 1200dpi does not usually improve the scan. The first image below I have basically just taken out the spots and adjusted the curves a little. The second is a B&W conversion.

The file was small so there is signs of pixelation.
