Claudio, first let me say that this is a lovely shot of a beautiful dog. As you say your Mom would be happy with any picture but IMHO the border really takes away from the image - it doesn't match the lovely soft white vignette that you have in the image. A thinner, more simple line border or none at all may compliment your processing a bit better.

I wonder if she might like a print and a set of matching notecards so she could share this image with all her family and friends whenever she drops them a line? She could also use it as an opportunity to brag about her son who took the picture I know that this can be done at a fairly low cost through a number of sources online but I'm not sue what would be available to you in South Africa.

As an aside, my father has a beagle named Ginger that he just adores and my sister and I both firmly believe that he worries more about the dog than he does about us. In fact, we a terrified when asked to mind the dog in case anything should happen to her while she is in our care Upon reflection, I guess the love our parents have for their pets must be sign that we grew up and turned out OK so they don't have to worry too much about us...

    Claudio,

I like what you have done to this image very much but not really sure about the framing effect. As your mother is so fond of this dog why not get this mounted and framed?
