Great colors on that first one, Roger.
Nice detail on the GBH feathers. And being a boating kind of guy, I like the BG and the dock line in the shot. And after all, marinas are as much a habitat for shorebirds as a marsh or any other waterfront.
Looks like it was a lovely evening.
Two great images Roger,well captured!
Trevor,
Great capture of the mast reflections and the heron is perfect set with that foreground and background.
Grahame
Great shots. I especially like the first one. I love how the reflections of the two longest masts are so symmetrical and in the centre of the frame.
I would not have known they were boat masts if you hadn't mentioned it. Really nice colorful abstract.
The portrait of the heron is beautifully timed.
Sergio
Two Ammmazing shots; Great indeed
Pllleassse tell me how you shot that Heron! Gorgeous all around.
Nancy
Excellent shots. The red hull brings a nice muted color point to image of the GBH.
Thanks Dan it was pretty good but none of my pelican shots came out good, oh well can't win them all.
Nancy, Thanks for asking because it's the reason why I bought the Canon 70D I wanted to switch to Canon from an Olympus E-3 but couldn't give up my articulating screen then the 70D came out and I switched. The two ways to get this shot are lay flat on the ground (which would have probably scared him away) or to slowly move the camera to floor level change the camera to live view I already have the camera set to TOUCH SCREEN enable (love this feature) frame the shot and just touch the screen. All the other settings are standard f/3.2 ISO 640 1/400th I was only able to get off one shot and a marina dweller walked up while texting and scared him away he apologized and I got the shot so all was good. Hope I answered your question without too much babble, but I love the articulating touch screen in case you couldn't tell
Thanks to everyone for their replies.
Excellent shots. The detail in #2 is amazing.
