Somebody changed my camera settings !

Took a little stroll on Friday as the sun was out and it was still quite warm. The views really caught my attention so I couldn't resist taking some shots.
I think they turned out ok but the guy in the camera shop who cleaned my sensor (sign in shop window;" free sensor cleaning today") mucked about with the settings and the camera only recorded in JPEG and not even very big ones at that, plus he managed to change the date and time, all things I don't routinly check as I never change them. It's true there is no such thing as a free lunch !

This is a view of the coast from just outside the village where I live:
Somebody changed my camera settings !

And this is the neighbouring village:
Somebody changed my camera settings !

Thanks for bothering to look and please comment too

Nice images of great looking country. The settings seem OK to me - I'm assuming these JPEGs are "as shot" or close to it. If so, you are left with plenty to adjust if you want in these contrasty and complex landscapes, but I wouldn't think you'd want to do much - they're very attractive.

Both these images are very nice works; i think the person did justice to you by foreseeing what you were going to click and adjusted accordingly

Thank you Mark, and Nandakumar. If you had seen the sensor you would understand why I got it cleaned but my issue was not being able to edit in RAW. Frustrating for a recent convert who is enjoying the PP process !

Mat as for your issue of not being able to edit in raw, you can, if you are using at least Photoshop CS or CC, select the image, go to open in raw, now you do not have as much data, however you get all the raw options.

    Allan,

I really wouldn't suggest to anyone to edit jpeg data in RAW! The compression has already taken place so the advantage is lost. Much better to read the manual to discover how to switch the record RAW settings on the camera for future use!

    Mat,
You don't say what make and model of camera you are using, otherwise someone here might be able to explain a quick fix to getting RAW settings operative again on the camera.

    Ian,
I've already changed the settings back to RAW, That's not a problem I did it straight away as soon as I discovered that they had been altered. But thank you for your comments !

Ian I agree with you, however the OP stated in his post #4 that one of the main issues was not being able to edit in Raw, I simply stated that you could open the image in raw and work on it.
There have been times when going from one camera to another and not thinking about the position of the ISO button, D7000, D600, where I thought, I was changing ISO where as in fact I was changing file type and size. When that happens I have no other recourse than to open the jpeg files in raw and try to improve that image as best I can.

    Cheers: Allan
