Portrait of a pensoiner

As it is coming up to Christmas it was long past time that me and my Son had been to see my Grandmother. She is 92 years old and very deaf so difficult to have a conversation with but she treasures time with her family. I try to ensure that when we do go see her that we get a photo of her so that my Son will always have something to help him remember her by.

This was taken on my new Fujifilm XE1 and 18-55mm lens. A camera that I am beginning to really enjoy as I get better at understanding it. This was a quick snapshot taken at high ISO. I managed to remove a large wooden beam that was behind her in photoshop as it gave the image a "wooden stake through the head" look. Then cropped to 1:1 as it suits her "mature" features.

Well captured Darren, The lighting is good and your square crop works well. A wonderful portrait of a grand lady.
She may be a bit deaf but by the look of those piercing eyes I don't think too much gets past her
