I could manage some contrast between land and sea....

the darkening of the sky adds to the gloom of the image, i suppose

Have you considered cropping a bit off the bottom, less sand, more boat and sky?

I'm not sure the figure goes with the scene as he isn't looking at either the sea or the boats but rather takes my attention towards something out of the frame. If he were looking the other way, my eye would be directed back to the boats rather than out of the image.

There are also two boats in the water that are noticeable, that are attention getting, but too small to be explored.

    I hope this helps!

    Nandakumar,

As often said by many here, ultimately how you finalize your image is up to you. I like the crops but, and this is where it becomes a personal preference, given the composition - the two boats clearly landlocked (and your title not withstanding) and both facing right - I think having the man in the far right is integral to the composition. It suggests they (the two boats and the man) are all waiting and watching for the same thing; high tide. Purely my take of your image.
