Considerating metal prints

Does any photographic genre lend itself more to metal prints than would another genre...wildlife, landscape, B&W/color, portrait, or...put another way, is there one genre that one should be avoided printing on metal?

I have very limited experience. I recently bought two 16 x 20 metal prints from Bay Photo. Both are flower macros. We did this because we were putting them into an environment too damp for paper prints. Both came out very well.

If you are interested, you might find it worth get samples of the various finishes because they are very different--more so even than papers. I bought the sample of four from Bay Photo. Their four are a 2 x 2 matrix: glossy vs. matte (or satin), by sheer vs. not. The two that are sheer (glossy and matte) have an image layer that is sufficiently translucent that you can see the texture of the aluminum slightly in some areas. The high gloss (which I bought) and the satin have a more opaque image layer.

The high gloss, which I bought, looks like very glossy paper, with a lot of pop.

I think I would prefer different finishes for different purposes, but it is all a matter of taste.

would any of them not work well if printed on metal?

I don't think I have the expertise to know. Why not pick one of these and use it for the sample pack? It does cost a bit, but it will give you clear information before taking the splurge on the full-size ones, which are not cheap.

BTW, I bought them with rounded edges and with the float, so they are held out from the wall. Looks very nice. The float won't work well with a standard picture hanger. I put in a small screw and anchor and left the screw about 1/8" from fully screwed in. that worked well.
