Sister & Brother from Another Mother

This year we lost two of our furry family members. The pain around here was overwhelming.

There was a time spent in knowing that there would be no others. However, that time turned out to be less than permanent and it was decided that since we could offer a good home we should.

So this is Gigi. (I know! You have no idea how hard it is for me to act all macho with a dog named Gigi!). A rescue Schnauzer. She was found in the streets running loose and in fairly bad shape. She never had her ears cropped as is usual for this breed and she is a total cutie. Looks like a little white kangaroo to me! Though you couldn't tell it here she loves to terrorize squirrels and has taken over security duties.

It wasn’t long after Gigi came to live with us that it was decided she needed some company. This is Yoda and he is Gigi’s “kid brother”. Also a rescue Schnauzer and still a youngster. He has never had a yard to run in until now and Gigi is showing him the ropes!

They moved right into our Home and our Hearts and I am glad they are here!

I didn’t have any shots of them yet, and since the Wifey-poo is coming down with something I figured it was time I grabbed a couple of quickies at least! Nothing special- whatever background, no special lighting (just a bit of bounced flash). But knowing that they would make her day I sent them to her.

    It worked!

Photography and puppies are a force to be reckoned with!

Terry, very nice captures. Incidentally, my older grandson calls his grandmother (my ex-wife) GiGi.

You got that right. Nicely done, both the rescues and the photography

Congrats on the additions to your home. Pets do bring a lot of joy. These are great shots, especially the first one.

I once had a good-looking girlfriend named GiGi and felt pretty darn masculine about ithat...

Kidding aside, lovely dogs. Rescues are great!

    Hey thanks guys!

It never ceases to amaze me how these dogs can sometimes live such a hard and tragic life, land in a good spot, and just love you to death as if the past never happened! I know this is just how dogs think, but still…

Yoda apparently had a female owner previously and it is possible he may have been abused by a male. He had a little problem with me when he came to live with us. But his Heart was good and all he needed was just a little talking to (to hear a calm reassuring male voice not abusing him), some positive attention and patience, and he’s just as good as gold!

They seem to have an infinite capacity sometimes and I hope I can take a page from this book!

And Richard, I wanted to rename Gigi “Spike” for machismo purposes, but she is just so darn cute it just didn’t seem right! So I’ll just have to forget all the macho crap!

Beautiful babies and the details are excitingly crisp in the shots.

Terry it is sad when you got a dog who had gone through someone else's cruel hand. My little Roxie used to flip when we touched her after she was brought home here to us. With lots of patience and lots of love and cuddles. I trained her a lot and even went to a training school just so she can adapt to other dogs and so I can learn how trainers here in the US train dogs. Now she wouldn't go anywhere without me. Doggies are the most wonderful creature on earth (and dolphins of course...) I am glad you got Gigi. She couldn't have had a better master than you. Kudos to you.

Happy New Year...5 hours to go, mate! Have fun!

I agree with all but one thing, Isabel! She does have a better Master than me! That would be her Mommy! They worship my wife! Can't say I blame them!

Happy New Year to you too Izzie! Toss one back for me if you are so inclined!

Ahhhhhhhhh. I see that photographing the hand-blown glass has paid off in spades.

Glad to see that the New Year is getting started off just right for you, Terry. It's not just the dogs that deserve it. It's also you that deserves it.

By the way, my aunt and uncle (now deceased) also adopted a boy and girl that are blood siblings. It apparently happens with humans too.
