Spotted this girl while waiting for a bus. Image converted to black and white with a high contrast, through Lightroom. Comments welcome.

Wishing all at Cambridge in Colour all the best for the New Year.

    Ahhhh..that's better....thanks mate.

I really like the high contrast, her aloof expression and the repitition of patterns in the seats and armrests but that window frame is difficult, it keeps drawing my attention and making me want to straighten it. I think the bits you can see of the left side of the vertical puts dark against the light wall and further down...light against her dark legs..they distract me.

Yes, I think the vertical lines need to be straight, even if that puts the horizontals a bit out.

And I wonder if you could actually get away with a fraction more highlight brightness?

Interesting that you focus on the window frame. Shot from outside looking in, hoping the lady wouldn't notice and start snarling at me. Reflections on the glass also added to the scene and reflective lighting.

Lasses don't snarl in Scotland, do they?

Maybe the window frame could be straightened but it doesn't bother me. I read it as main metaphor in this shot. Everyone has their heads glued to a phone these days and can't see past the ends of their arms / hands. The frame says she is boxed in this bare, selfish little cell.

John, take it from someone who's been on the receiving end, lassies' in Scotland certainly do snarl, haha. John I like your thinking re the boxed in of today's phone obsessed people. The window frame is a double frame, for the window and the girl, though I also like how it continues for the replication of the rectangular shapes.

All in all I like it as a simple shot, though with interesting patterns.
