Is this too trite and overdone?

Any and all comments and critiques are appreciated.

By the way, this was shoot on a Canon T4i (cropped sensor), 55mm, F/8, 1/200 second at ISO 200. I processed it in Gimp. I weighted the green and blue channels higher than red when I converted to B/W.

It would work better for me if it was cropped to a landscape. Certainly the roof (road/bridge?) in the background is not adding anything to the image. The gentleman in the photo probably has a DSLR in his hands and as most of us know it makes reading signs easy but comprehension impossible.

Yes, I think you're correct. It would be better landscape.

Not sure, but I think the guy came from the building in the (distracting) background.

Here's one cropped as a landscape

Yes Craig I think it is a better crop. I now see the man is probably doing lawn mowing or spraying, before I thought he was another rogue photographer.

Thanks for the help L.Paul. I liked the story, regardless of whether or not the guy was actually allowed there. But I wasn't as pleased with the photo.

You could have also cropped to different size ratios such as 5 x 4 or square if you wanted to give more of an impression of height.

Craig, I guess it depends on what you mean by 'trite'?

I think the concept is actually quite unique, and intriguing. But the selective colourisation, in my opinion is 'trite'. It also appears to me that it may not be in sharp focus, but I'm at work, and just have a crappy monitor to view it on. But it initially caught me as quite soft.

Nicely done. Reminds me - never seen "no photography" on a" Posted" sign... yet.

Lols. Based on what what I read, I thought it was a photographer. I was about to comment on the effects of texting vs photography. Good think I kept my mouth shut on that one....ummm huh?

That's kind of what I was afraid of. I like the "story", but the un-edited photo was less than inspired. I'd like to jazz it up a bit, but not sure how. Reshooting it would be best, but you seldom get a second chance in photography.

Anyway, thanks for the comment. I'm still learning and comments really help.
