C&C on the spider capture P&TY and a small aside

Small aside: after 30+ years with mild M.S. my balance is getting worse as are my minor tremors. Plus I am getting tired of almost great shots. So ladies and gentlemen suggestions for a tripod that will be used in my backyard for macro shots, mostly from a sitting on a stool position, with a camera set up that will weigh less than three pounds (1.5 kilos) Please and thank you.

I suppose a carbon fibre tripod is worth considering. I changed my very heavy Manfrotto 055 for carbon fibre but that one is still quite heavy and cumbersome.

For light occasional use I have a Velbon Luxi L which is aluminum but only weighs around 2 1/2 lbs. It folds up to just 14 ins and will adjust from near ground level to normal stand up height.

But it does have twist locking for the legs and I find that can require a good grip.

I also have an ultra light Velbon CX mini tripod which is all plastic and only weighs a fraction over 1 1/2 lbs. It is fairly well built and stable for plastic. The working height is between 1 and 2 ft. The locking tabs are easy to use.

But there are quite a few similar suppliers which are worth considering.

Carbon fiber is worth considering but practically it is out of my price range. Twist locking could be a problem.
