You post wonderful flower photos, and I too appreciate the thoughts you add to them.

In this case, however, I do have a suggestion. When I first looked at the red flowers, it seemed as if there was no detail in some areas. So I just loaded the image into Photoshop, and as I expected, you have blown highlights in the red channel.

I have found that intensely red photographs are often very difficult to photograph for his reason. I do two things to deal with it. The most important is to look at all three histograms when shooting to make sure that the dominant color isn't clipping. A second is to avoid adding contrast using an RGB curve and instead using a luminosity blend to avoid boosting saturation. The first of these is the more important.
