I am late here, typically, but feel I have to respond. Back in the day when I was studying for my thesis, one sentence I read stopped me in my tracks. It was Aristotle (probably the geography) in which he wrote (and I paraphrase from memory): "we don't have to prove the world is round, the ancients have already proved that". From my perspective, I considered Aristotle to be ancient, so I wondered who he considered to be ancient. In any case, I think they worked it out by observing the lunar eclipse(s). And Columbus, for one, was well aware that the world was round before he set sail and bumped into the West Indies because he had studied Strabo, the classical geographer.

Nice sentiment, Nandy. In my world, every day is "women's day". It has to be

    Thank you very much, Greg

    Thank you so much, Izzie

    John, thank you very much

As far as I know: the subjective knowledge or wisdom of Earth being spheroid was there in ancient Vedic literature; the Sanskrit term "Bhoogol" means the spherical Earth....but such Wisdom remained at the level of deeper experience of sages, not directly conceived by common man. For them, scientific evidence was needed. and the modern world owes much to European scientific community and scientists in other parts of the world for our present form of knowledge.... I respect both or respect every form of human pursuit
    , be it subjective/spiritual or objective/material .....

Well conceived, Nandy. I feel a lot of tension between the subject and the background, because of the colours.

    Brinn, thank you so much

Actually, I am undecided here whether the background matches the subject or quarrel with it; I am not even sure red and orange are match or mismatch

Very pretty Nandakumar. I just bought myself a new pair of sandals with exactly that kind of flower.

    Re: Mindscapes...

It certainly is, Nandy...this wisdom can be interpreted in many ways...not just physical body thirst but also thirst for knowledge.

    Re: Mindscapes...

Nice idea, Nandy, but as a photograph i think the reflections detract from the image. Can you clone them out?

Apart from that, those two glasses look really inviting. The temp here has been hovering 30 and 80+% humidity for about the last 30 something days - a new record apparently. Probably not as hot as India, but it's killing me.
