second, is migration from one state to another involves many legal formalities? like passport or something.....only if i am not asking something foolish

Yes, it is very common here for state borders to be straight lines.
You can move to or visit any state you want to with no passport or paper work. The only paperwork relates to tax collection and voting registration stuff like that.
No foolish questions. how else would you get answers to your questions.
