Dogs can too...though they are more alert and ready for action once you call them. At times, they act like cats, live their own lives after being their slave and getting a feed. At least mine is sometimes lazy...doing nothing but when I stand up from my chair you can see 'that' kind of look. Spoil rotten little beast! Anyway, my favourite number 8 -- in my culture the sign of infinity.
