In my opinion back lighting flowers, as you have done in this shot, is the most effective way to photograph most flowers. The light coming through the petals creates a host of interesting shadows that show the flowers in a totally different light that the front lit ones we usually see. Well done!

Yes, what you said is fully correct; these recent image were all from a local flower show; on some row they were facing Sun; in some others Sun was at the back; so a got both type; thank you very much, Manfred

The bright area on the left hand side, especially toward the top is distracting. The viewer's eyes are going to be drawn to the brightest and most contrasty part of the image, and in this case, that's not your subject.
