    The wedding

Just thought I'd post a few images from my niece's wedding. It was the first family wedding in ages, and also the first chance I had to put my camera to wedding use! These were taken in March 2013 at a venue in Bathgate, Scotland, the day after a heavy snowfall (It was freezing!!).

Most of the images were okay but these were the ones I'm proud of most. I have to say, the official photographer was fantastic in letting me nip in between his shots, but where he got the posed shots I managed to catch a few very natural pics, which I'm happy to say the bride and groom were over the moon with them.

The last one's my favourite as I think it looks so natural and the couple look so happy.

No post processing has been done (as you can probably tell!) but I was happy with the images as they were.

Critique welcome..... I've got a lot still to learn!

Nice. First off, if you could add exif data that would be helpful with any critique. 2nd, I see a good gusting wind, so that gives you a few points back on the board.

all 3 were taken at 1/160, f/5.6, ISO 200. Focal length between 38-47mm. Hope this helps!

    Hi Gordon,

Yes, the data help. Images are nicely exposed, the winds were in your favor in adding nice lines to your composition giving the shots more energy. Just enough shutter speed to capture their expressions.

Very nice shots. I would consider cropping a bit of the blank sky off the top from #1 and #2 but, not from #3 because of the veil flowing in the wind. You did a good job separating the white dress from the white snow!
What tartan was this? At first I thought it might be Clan Irvine (my ancestry) but, it is not!

If I remember correctly, its Glasgow Rangers football club tartan - not a clan tartan.

I had forgotten that there were tartans other than clan and regimental tartans. It looks pretty sharp! Was the wind whipping up the groom's kilts?
