Winter storm photo

I took a trip last year to the western side of Vancouver Island during storm season. We hit an unusually quiet period. I would really like to see something like this in person one day. The story says this is in Wales.

They probably lived to tell the tale...but that was scary enough to be IN it.

Gotta say, those kind of people really pee me off - what they are doing is not only incredibly stupid and putting their lives at risk but it would only take one rogue wave to wash them off that pier and they / their relatives would expect the coastguard to risk their lives to either rescue them or look for their bodies - several people have already been killed in the UK this year by going down to take photos of the sea during the storm period.

Yes it was in Wales and the photographer who took the photo itself was away at a safe distance - all credit to him for highlighting such crass stupidity.

+1 to Steve's comments. Has anyone heard of the "Reverse Darwin Awards"? These are made to people who improve the intelligence of the human genome by absenting themselves from it. These folks came close to qualifying.

I remember seeing a number of hotels near Tofino, on the west side of Vancouver Island, with their fall stormwatching packages, while we were there in the summer a number of years ago. I expect that they make sure that the storm watchers are nice and comfortable while the storms roar away outside.
