That's a strength of the photo for me, not a weakness. I have always liked that the leading lines in the pier take my eye to the horizon. I like it so much that I would probably replace the tiny bit of water that appears above the boards with the sky to accurately match the pier with the horizon.

I think you missed the area I am referring to, Mike. On the right side of the pier, from the 2nd post in, the boards blend with the water. You wouldn't want to replace this with sky.

I'm still missing the detail you're trying to bring to my attention, Greg. I've either had too much wine or not enough.

It is 10.30am here. You are immersed in it, and I am recovering from it. If the area indicated doesn't appear to blend, then I need new glasses (I hope you don't mind, Karm.)

The good news, Greg, is that you don't need new glasses. The better news, at least for me, is that the issue that you brought to our attention is a non-issue for me.

This is a version Manfred suggested that I wanted to try. It's the original image with a shortened sky. Many thanks to all for very useful feedback.

I think the second post works best - somehow the sky is needed for the infinite view. I'd also darken the image slightly to blacken the sahdow of the railing - but I do seem to be going through a period where I like darker shots so this may just be me and a load of rubbish to everyone else.

Hi Kaye, no, what you're saying makes sense. I can definitely see your words in the images.
