We went to dinner recently at a restaurant on Harbor Island which is located on San Diego Bay. That night we were experiencing a mild Santa Ana climatic condition in which the dry winds blow from the East and really clear up the atmosphere. This view of San Diego from Harbor Island absolutely glowed in the reflection of the setting sun. It was absolutely breathtaking! I visited that area last night and the winds had shifted forming a cloud bank over the ocean to the west. This marine layer obscured the setting sun while it was still fairly high in the sky.
The resulting vista was nice, but certainly not up to what it had been a few nights previously. I made the shot anyway but, I will visit Harbor Island again as soon as the weather conditions are ripe for the image I want...

I shot this pseudo panorama just a bit earlier. It is not a true pano since I accomplished this simply by cropping the tops and bottoms of the frame to remove the expanse of uninteresting water and remove some of the sky.

Like all pano-type images, it is best viewed in a larger size...
