The Monochromes - Ouro Preto - Last set of images

Hi. Here are some monochromes from my recent visit to Ouro Preto, last Christmas. If you havent checked sets 1 and 2, here are the links: The historical city of Ouro Preto - SET 1 Some night shots of Ouro Preto at Christmas Time - SET 2. This conclude the Ouro Preto series. I hope you like them. C&C welcomed, as always. Thanks for viewing!

Note: Many of the architecturals shown in these 3 sets, including the church in the first image, were projected by the Genius Antônio Francisco Lisboa, the so called Aleijadinho. I showed, in the past, his masterpiece: The Twelve Prophets. Here is the link: MINAS GERAIS - Set 1: The Twelve Prophets.

    Kindest regards,

#1 - Church of Saint Francis - This one was projected by Aleijadinho.

Stunning... I think #1 and #3 win my favourites here, really hard to decide because they are all so wonderful.

Hello, Christina. I am glad you liked the images! Many thanks for passing by!

Note: Do you believe you preferred 1 and 3 because of the Sepia tone?

    Cheers,

Otavio - #1 and #3 are my favourites too and yes, the sepia toning is the perfect (for me) process, just a pity there's all those modern cars in the 'Main Plaza' as if you had been able to create a sepia image without them, it would have been the cream of the crop and absolutely timeless.

Nicely done. Sometimes including people (I see you did in one shot) in black and white shots can add a bit of nostalgia to the image, especially if the subject's attire is not to modern.

    Hello Otavio,

I almost always prefer colour, with no preference for B&W over Sepia, or vice versa. That church photo is a stunner, so I'd likely also adore if it were pink. Initially I was going to choose the 2nd image (which I also love) but I think it might be because the sky looks softer in the Sepia tones. I'm truly not sure.

Hi, Steve. Thanks for your feedback. It is good to know about the preference for the Sepia tone (I also love it). Regards,

You did a great job with composition and technical execution, but your post seems to have created serious tone mapping glows around the buildings in 1, 2, 3, and 5. Hard to correct, unfortunately, but you can try placing the tone-mapped layer over the original with partial opacity. There's plenty of crunchy detail in each shot, so you're definitely working from good files.

Another great set! I prefer St Francis' Church in colour but the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel #3 is fantastic!

Hi, Matt. Quite happy that you liked my Ouro Preto series! Thanks a lot. I took a look at your Flickr, BTW, and there are wonderful images there! Well done. Cheers, mate.
