Some people do the 'sniper' approach, picking single moments to shoot off one shot. Not my style. Even for perched or slow subjects, I do bursts, between 2-4 shots at a time. I find, usually at least one of them is sharper than the others, and generally it isn't the first in the series.

I used to, but found that the best one was always the first so changed my approach a bit. Now I take a couple of single shots, refocusing each time. It has something to do with being steady enough but not quite so the first is always the best.

Hmm, I may have to try your approach again and see if I can get similar results. Thanks.

Thinking about it and that could be due to the slower fps of the other cameras. Perhaps with the fps on the new one, it might be different.

There also maybe advantages to going back to burst - it will catch the bird even if he takes off (hopefully). Up to now anyway, it has been either point, hold, wait for it to take off or give that up for the static poses.

Hmmmm must work on that.
