Good shot Mitch...I shot lots of those in the Cuchara, Co. area. The foliage often messes with the AF.

Is the thread's title related to you wanting to take ownership of the stag or the stag letting you know that the hinds are his?

Came across this one in southern Colorado and taken through a dirty windscreen window as I didn't want to disturb the birds as they fought over the carcass ... really enough for all of them.
One of their troubles is they do not appreciate the danger of a motor vehicle and just stand there, switching off headlights is supposed to encourage them to move out of the way .... I came around a corner and stopped short in my car ... obviously the truck couldn't judging from the point of impact.

During the deer season, we trek to a Kansas farm with an AK each...Our goodies always ended up cut up properly and quick freeze and some ended up as summer sausage or salami. I still have some stash...want some?
