Just Waiting (Man v. Pelican)
I shot this around midday so the light was pretty harsh. I had a polariser on and set the ec to -0.67. Then I had trouble processing it to get the colours to look right. Still, I like the composition so I decided to post it here. The pelican had stolen one of the guy's fish earlier and he hunted it away, but it kept sneaking back in a game of cat and mouse - man v pelican - while both of them waited for the guy to catch another fish.

Re: Just Waiting (Man v. Pelican)
I was once sitting eating fish&chips at Palm Beach and one of those things grabbed my fish and I am not refering to the fisherman. They are a big bird do they ever attack/pester children?
Good shot but maybe if you crouched a bit you would have put a bit more emphases on the bird and placed the man's head higher than the beach.

Re: Just Waiting (Man v. Pelican)
Good suggestion, Paul. I don't like the way the horizon cuts the guy's head off. But my knees are beyond crouching so I would have had to flop down on the rocks on my belly and it was way too hot for that. (I know, I should be more committed and suffer for my art.)
I have never seen a pelican attack or pester children, but I have seen the opposite.

I like this too. Good story. I see what you mean about color... seems sort of blued. Did you try some adjustment of WB?

Liked the composition; think if you could get the same image in the morning light, that would have been even more great

Thank you all for viewing and commenting.
Mark, I did adjust the WB but I agree it does look a bit blue. Maybe I should have taken a break from the processing to let my eyes rest a while. It seemed ok before I posted it.
Nandakumar, I agree it would be sweet in the dawn light, but it is mid summer now and the sun rises way too early for me.
