Dream a Golden Dog

Dream really is a golden dog, but I had a black sheet pinned up in the spare room to play around with lights and gels, hoping to bribe one of the kids to model for me…. they were scarce, so I bribed the dog instead. I wanted to see how she looked with a Rust colour Gel on a flash directed at a black background…

I'm really liking the effect of the gel on the BG. Both the color and the nice gradient. I'd have to say it looks much better done on a black BG than another color.

I love a deep red or maroon BG for a buff colored dog. I will often choose that color BG for the tan colored dogs that I shoot. However, I have a chocolate brown fleece which also shows up tan dogs nicely...



However, I am not really keen on trying to modify a black BG with colored gels. If I were to choose a BG to modify with those gels, I would probably select a medium gray...

Thankyou all for comments & suggestions, it is a terrible heat wave here with temperatures over 40 all week, so she had a good deal of her gorgeous coat cut off before the temps hit. Even indoors with aircon it is pretty uncomfortable for her.
Thanks again & I will try some other backgrounds as suggested.
